You subscribe to watch, listen, read and eat and now a Gold Coast businessman is hoping customers will apply the same logic to travel. Former Franchise Advisory chairman Keith Alexander launched subscription-based vehicle hire service Everything Fleet in May, in response to changing consumer habits.
Mr Alexander, who headed up the Gold Coast Thrifty Car Rental for 30 years, said car subscription was being embraced globally as an alternative to owning or leasing. The service offers customers all-inclusive use of vehicles for a flat monthly rate, which includes registration, insurance and maintenance, with drivers otherwise responsible only for fuelling up.
Customers can choose to keep the car for as long as desired, or swap for a model that meets their needs at a particular time, such as a larger people-mover when family is coming to stay. All the subscription vehicles are less than 12 months old, there’s no lock-in contract, and prices start at $200 a week, with a 30-day minimum term.
The Southport-based service also offers commercial vehicles, such as utes, 4WDs, vans, buses and trucks.
“There are no end-of-lease or vehicle sale responsibilities.” Mr Alexander said.
“The customer simply returns the vehicle to Everything Fleet and picks up a new one. We are independent, and we own the vehicles and have exceptional choice of the latest model vehicles. Everything Fleet operates from Southport and Logan, with additional city and airport locations opening soon in Brisbane and Sydney.
