We get a lot of questions about renting a vehicle with Travel Insurance. We understand insurance is a tricky, slippery world and Everything Fleet wants to help you navigate this and make your rental experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Here is a list of items you need to know so you have the kind of assurance we all want when travelling on the road:

  • If damage or loss occurs to the Everything Fleet vehicle and/or to the third-party property during the course of your rental period, you are liable for the Damage Liability Fee (DLF) as specified on the Rental Agreement.
  • This amount represents the maximum figure you will be expected to pay, providing the Terms and Conditions of the Agreement have not been breached. This amount will automatically be charged to your Rental Agreement.

Should your rental vehicle be involved in an accident and you have Travel Insurance, it’s important to note:

  • Travel Insurance is not vehicle insurance and does not provide cover for the vehicle.
  • If you have purchased Travel Insurance you may have only acquired cover for reimbursement of up to the maximum amount of the DLF.
  • Travel Insurance does not exempt you from paying the DLF. You will need to pay this at the time of the accident and once the claim has been finalised, you can forward all relevant documentation to your insurer for reimbursement.
  • If you do not pay your DLF in full at the time of the accident and/or within the timeframes provided within the Terms and Conditions of the Rental Agreement, you will be in breach.
  • The reimbursement process will take up to 30 days in straightforward cases. However, in more complex cases, and if liability is disputed the claim may take in excess of 12 months.

In terms of Travel Insurance, please refer to the specific Terms and Conditions of your policy as each provider varies greatly in terms of what is covered.

Everything Fleet offers ‘Standard’ Protection Cover automatically in the price of your rental vehicle. If your vehicle is lost, stolen or damaged you are only liable for the Standard Damage Liability Fee amount provided the Terms and Conditions have not been breached.
