In Australia, the Hilux is Toyota’s most recognisable workhorse vehicle -an iconic dual use vehicle, at home, around town and in the toughest terrains.
Launched in Japan in 1968 the Hilux is renowned for its quality, durability and reliability. Nevertheless fast forward to 2024 and everyone is talking about the Hilux Hybrid and its new 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.
Featuring the familiar iconic look and available exclusively in Double Cab format, the Hilux Hybrid 48V makes a strong, rugged impression with its bold three-dimensional grille and front bumper. Inside, the spacious interior features a modern infotainment system and the latest Toyota Safety Sense technology.
Known as ‘V-Active Technology’, the 48-volt system comprises a motor generator, 48-volt battery and DC/DC converter which enables a stop/start system as well as a reduction in noise and vibration. The 48-volt technology also helps improve fuel economy of the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine up to 10%, compared to the current generation Hilux.
“48-Volt technology improves fuel efficiency while still providing performance and capability that the Hilux is known for. Combined with dynamic styling and improved specification, the Hilux range has never looked more appealing,” Mr Hanley, Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations, said.
